Hi Denis. Thanks for doing an amazing job on my painting, Devotional Bond. The details like the leaves, twigs, moss and rocks as well as the details on my Golden Retrievers faces is truly extraordinary. You are a gifted artist and it was a pleasure to deal with you. I strongly recommended you to any body looking for a custom painting.

Whilst I admired Denis’ art for a while, I had no idea how that I may afford one day to own one of his original. In July 2019, Denis published in social media page a picture of this lovely fox in the snow with the mention it was available. So I decided to write him a private message, without much hope or expectation as in principle wildlife art is sold through galleries and show in America.

To my surprise, not only did I receive an almost immediate gentle answer but it was from Denis, himself, no community manager or chatbot, direct contact with the artist I admired for years. The fact that there was no intermediary meant that I could afford to purchase it.

After that first brilliant experience, Denis published two other works in progress, and I directly asked him if they would be available, and then I added a blue heron and two bear cubs to my walls. Having several exchanges with Denis, I dared to ask him if he would accept to take a commission as for my 40’s I wanted to have a painting of a gorilla family. This was my first of many commissions. I am now the proud collector of 10 originals.

All of his paintings demonstrate exceptional quality and dedication shaped by years of practice. Each piece reflects attention to detail, skill, and a clear passion for the craft. The effort put into creating each piece is evident and appreciated.

All the artworks were delivered in excellent condition despite the flight from Canada to Switzerland. Denis showed me how he packed securely each painting himself, ensuring it arrived without any damage, and the presentation enhanced the overall experience.

When it come to commission, I like to give freedom to the artist, exchanging with Denis is very smooth, I usually indicated which animal and sometime the setup or colour scheme I would like and then Denis work on digital concept that  provided a clear idea of what to expect, the final original piece always exceeded expectations. Seeing the original brought out details and depth that weren’t fully captured in the digital concept.

Seeing original art in person is always a captivating experience. It allows me to appreciate the textures, colors, and finer details that aren’t always visible in photographs or digital representations. I do believe that the energy and emotion are captures in the oils and brushstrokes, hence each pieces are much more impactful up close than any prints.

Denis’ originals are unique and resonate deeply with me. They combine artistic skills with emotional depth, creating pieces that feel personal and meaningful. Collecting his art allows me to own something truly special and one-of-a-kind. Also as I do like drawing a lot, I learn a lot by having masterpieces surrounding.

I was initially introduced to Denis through a friend that was taking art lessons from him, after she recognized that I would really appreciate the themes and quality of his artistic works. His talent shown through the very first time I saw his work in his home.

The life-like quality of Denis’s renditions of animals and their surrounding was astounding, and I was pleased to be able to commission several of his large and smaller paintings.

Each time a new commissioned piece was hand delivered by Denis, it exceeded my expectations, even though I already had a good sense of what the painting or drawing would look like from preliminary concept renderings.

Every painting has been a gem in our family collection of art. Denis is my favourite realist wild-life artist.
The scenes painted by Denis serve as windows into the intimate life of the beautiful creatures that co-inhabit the planet with us. My preference has been the acquisition of original oil paintings, since the breath and depth of the colours comes through without the need for protective glass. There is something different about possessing the actual work that the artist has directly engaged with over countless hours to create and rendered by the masterful manipulation of paint from its genesis.

I have had the pleasure of working with Denis Mayer Jr. for many years, initially hiring him for technical and commercial sketches. Over time, I had the privilege of witnessing his artistic journey evolve into the realm of wildlife artistry. What struck me most about Denis’s work is his incredible attention to detail, which truly makes each piece come alive.

What sets Denis apart is his dedication to capturing the essence of nature. He doesn’t just work from photographs—he physically ventures into the forest, the mountains, and the wilderness to observe firsthand the subtleties that others might miss. Whether it’s the way snow settles on a branch, the texture of moss clumping together, or the delicate details of the underbrush, Denis’s connection to nature is evident in every stroke of his brush.

I commissioned Denis to complete a large custom piece, and the final result exceeded all expectations. The time, energy, and immense talent that go into creating an original work are something you can truly appreciate when you see it up close. Each detail, each stroke, brings the artwork to life in a way that is impossible to replicate. Denis’s work is a testament to his skill, passion, and deep understanding of the natural world. It has been an honor to watch his craft evolve, and I look forward to seeing his next great interpretation.
